PSG can only inform Messi that he needs at least 48 hours of rest from the announcement of the injury. That way, La Pulga will most likely miss the Metz clash in the 2021/2022 French League, Thursday (23/2021).
For the time being, Messi’s condition will continue to be monitored and only checked again after 48 hours. If it turns out that his left knee injury has not healed, it will be bad news for PSG.
Because after fighting Metz, the team nicknamed Les Parisiens has been waiting for two tough opponents next week. Such as against Montpellier, Sunday (26/9/2021) and meeting Manchester City (Man City) in the second party of Group A of the 2021/2022 Champions League, Wednesday (29/9/2021).
Of course, the presence of Messi is very much needed by PSG in these two matches, especially when they meet Man City. However, for now PSG supporters can only wait and hope for good news in the next 48 hours.
“Lionel Messi, who sustained an injury to his left knee against Lyon, underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning which confirmed signs of bruising to the bone. A follow-up examination will be carried out in 48 hours,” PSG said in a statement quoted by Sportsmole, Tuesday (21/9/2021).
Messi was initially unaware of the injury. The Argentine star just felt something strange in his left knee during the PSG vs Lyon match.
Fortunately the PSG coaching staff and Pochettino realized something was wrong with Messi’s knee. As a result, Messi was withdrawn from the match in the 76th minute. When he was substituted, Messi showed an annoyed gesture and didn’t even want to shake Pochettino.
